The mouse poop on top of my mom's carefully folded and placed underwear early last Sunday morning obviously did not trigger the appropriate mental "mouse alert-- PANIC" button. She chalked it up to the aged chest of drawers (not withstanding that every spot of her house has been scrubbed and sanitized and therefore residual mouse droppings should have raised high the cautionary red flag) and went contentedly on her way.
Two days later. Mouse poop hits-the-fan.
Peyton was sitting in the family room at Mama's house and suddenly says to my mom, "Mama, there's a mouse in the kitchen!" The color must have drained from my mom's face as she asked "where"-- more than likely just to confirm that Peyton was only messing with her head. When Peyton responded that it was underneath the kitchen table and Mr. Mouse proceeded to scurry across the kitchen floor, Mom was thrown into the midst of her worst real-life phobia-filled nightmare.
Mom wasn't about to stay home alone with any sneaky vermin. Dad was travelling and wouldn't be back until Friday, so Jeremy, Peyton, Parker and I had a house guest-- thankfully of the human variety. From Peyton's comments, mom must have been quite the site. More than once over the next couple days he asked, "Mama, are you going to cry again?" regarding her little interloper.
I could draw out the story with more flair to paint the picture, but I think that facts alone do this tale justice: 26 traps (24 in the kitchen alone-- of all sizes, styles and varieties) and 48 hours later, the little mouse met his fate in the junk drawer-- lured by a tasty American cheese treat.
We had a two-night sleepover at our house with Mama. On night number three, Peyton stayed with her for moral support. Our entire week was thrown off kilter because of one jittery skittery critter.
It'll be a week to remember. Thanks for the laughs mom. I pinkie-promise that I'll always save you from those feisty mice.

Unintentional Hiatus--- STUPID COMPUTER!!!
Update: So according to the very wise, Mr. Kyle Burke (brother to our dear friend, Lindsay), our computer is officially toast. That also means a TON of pictures of our kiddos taken over the past 6 months or so (that I hadn't taken the time to back up) are also gone. Our only hope is to send our hard drive off to some place in Ohio that will unstack the drive and prayerfully retrieve our photos-- that is all I care about. RIP desktop computer, you weren't with us for very long.
On a positive note: my friend, Emily, has had our family laptop for quite a while (which was no problem because we weren't using it!) and she had her awesome boyfriend mail the laptop back to us Friday just as she was leaving for an internship in Warsaw, Poland!!! Yay for God's timing! At least we don't have to buy a new computer right now. Praise Jesus!!!!
Although I knew that I wouldn't have time to post for a while, I certainly didn't mean THIS long!!!
Anyhow, the choice wasn't mine to make. Our desktop died on us this week! If anyone out there can even possibly offer some advice (or even wants to come look at it) that would be stellar! I'm on Jeremy's work computer posting this and I don't really like using it at all. Think of us. I'll be dreaming of getting back in the business of blog-reading soon...
Until a better day..........with most fond memories of the way we were..........

Back to Our Roots...
No time to post at the moment, but I at least wanted to post a picture of us at Teen Mania. We have another picture of us standing in front of the same fountain seven years ago when we graduated from the Honor Academy. I'll try to scan that one and post it in the next couple of days. Love you all...details to come!

The Dreaded Haircut!
BEFORE: He looks so little...and his hair was already butchered because my dad attempted the haircut (with our permission)
Side note: For those who don't know-- Peyton is TERRIFIED of haircuts. There is a reason that we don't have any photos of the process! Jeremy had to hold him the entire time while he was crying. This is also the reason that all we get is a 4-guard cut all over. (and yes...we tried Kiddie Kuts too-- no luck!)
Anything for a "chocolate bar" bar and milk! (It was well worth it and much deserved-- he actually got a little brave toward the end...YAY PEYTON!) He suddenly aged 2 years!~ (and no, he didn't eat the entire Snickers either.
I'll miss you guys!!!! Have a wonderfully blessed few days. I'll be having withdrawals by the time I come back. Love you!!!
